FRIENDS OF FULLER B. GORDY STRIKEFEST is a music performance and bowling entertainment event with unique activations, founded by Iris Gordy and Karla Gordy Bristol in 2008.
The event is dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of Fuller B. Gordy by honoring outstanding, yet often unsung individuals and organizations committed to educating, inspiring and making an impactful difference in the lives of others. The event brings together the Motown Family and honors the Motown legacy.

Highlighting the life and legacy of former Motown Vice President and the first black man from Michigan, to be inducted into the Professional Bowlers Association
Fuller B. Gordy served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Motown, shaping company policies and philanthropic efforts with his strategic vision and leadership.
In 1959, Fuller became the first black bowler from Michigan inducted into the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), breaking barriers and paving the way for greater diversity in the sport.
Fuller co-founded the Motown Bowling League, combining his passion for music and bowling to create a beloved community event that brought together colleagues and friends.
Fuller's legacy continues through those who remember his kindness, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to empowering and supporting charitable causes
Motown songs married the saintly and the secular, merging gospel music patterns with bebop jazz syncopation and improvisation.
The Funk Brothers backed Motown's finest artists in Studio A's "snake pit", using unique equipment like the Echo Chamber for reverb effects.
Berry Gordy Jr. held notoriously competitive company-wide meetings to ensure only the best songs were released under the Motown label.
Motown Museum continues to celebrate the authentic story of Motown, inspiring new generations of music lovers and dreamers.
Ava's Heart Foundation provides critically needed assistance to organ transplant patients who are unable to afford it. The foundation offers doctor-mandated pre & post operative housing for patients who must travel away from their homes to receive transplant-related care. In her role as Vice President of Creative at Motown Records, Iris Gordy played a pivotal role in launching thesuccessful careers of legendary artists like Rick James, Teena Marie, and DeBarge. This highly respected music industry veteran helped shape the iconic Motown sound that captivated audiences around the world. Now CEO of a wellness business, Iris remains engaged in the entertainment industry and serves on several influential boards. As a published author and the founder/producer of Friends of Fuller B. Gordy Strikefest, Iris continues to celebrate the enduring legacy of Motown and its impact on popular culture. Through FOF, she recognizes community leaders and unsung heroes who positively influence their communities through education, inspiration, and service.
Karla Gordy Bristol is a dynamic and accomplished woman with deep roots in the entertainment industry. As the co-founder of Friends of Fuller B. Gordy Strikefest, she carries on her family's legacy and passion for Motown music. Karla worked in Corporate Affairs at Motown Records and contributed songwriting and producing talents to a few artists recordings, gaining valuable experience in the music business. She also held a career as a professional choreographer and dancer, lending her artistic talents in music videos and working privately with artists. For over 25 years, Karla has been creating and producing events and TV programs and a TV Host. She is the Chair of the Beverly Hills Arts and Culture Commission, demonstrating her commitment to the arts and community. Karla enjoys bringing together Motown Family, friends, family and Motown fans at their annual FOF event, which offers a joyful and memorable experience.
